COP CLEARED: Deputy Cleared In Shooting

A Van Buren County Sheriff’s Deputy who shot and killed an armed man last week has been cleared of any wrong-doing.

Robert Dooley was shot and killed by Deputy Jon Tharp last Tuesday after Dooley pointed a rifle at the deputy.

An investigation by the DCI and Van Buren County Attorney’s Office found Deputy Tharp’s actions were justified.

He’s been on paid leave during the investigation.
