FIREHOUSE SALE: Public Hearing Monday

The Des Moines city council is holding a public hearing Monday afternoon on the sale of the former fire station on Mulberry Street. 

The Des Moines Social Club plans to buy the building and the council is giving the community a chance to weigh in on the sale. 

The meeting begins at 4:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Wells Fargo plans to lend a hand in the acquisition and renovation of the fire station with a major donation. The company has pledged to give $100,000 to the Des Moines Social Club.

The club is currently at 400 Walnut Street, and hopes to have the firehouse renovation finished by 2014.
