DEER ACCIDENTS: Iowa Third In Deer Crashes
One in about 72 Iowans will hit a deer in the next 12 months.
That’s the prediction being made by a new State Farm insurance report. The company uses claims data and Federal Highway Administration information to make the calculations.
Drivers in two others states are more likely to hit a deer than drivers in Iowa. West Virginia tops the list and South Dakota comes in second.
You are least likely to hit a deer if you’re a driver in Hawaii. The odds are 1 in 6,801.
That’s equal to the odds of a person being struck by lightning during his or her lifetime.
