INMATE ESCAPE: Work Release Escapee

A work release prisoner at the Fort Des Moines Residential Correctional Facility is on escape status.

The Iowa Department of Corrections says 27-year-old Daniel Avery failed to return to the facility Monday. He is serving a 15 year prison term for robbery, assault, criminal mischief, OWI, and escape.

Avery is described as a white male with brown hair and green eyes. He is six-foot-one and 164 pounds. He has several tattoos including the word “East” with flames on his right forearm.
