SET ASIDE: Tuition Set Aside Program Discussed
The University of Iowa’s Board of Regents meets Thursday, on the agenda, a plan to change the controversial “Student Set-Aside” program.
As it stands now, about 20-percent of tuition dollars goes to fund scholarships for low-income students.
In September, regents proposed a new plan, which calls for the legislature funding the scholarships. In turn, tuition dollars would pay other university expenses.
The regents will discuss the proposal in Iowa City Thursday.
