BUTTERY BIRD: ISU’s Cy Gets Makeover
This week marks the 100th anniversary Homecoming at Iowa State and the school has a unique way of marking the occasion.
The Butter Cow at the Iowa State Fair is world-famous but it now has a rival in the buttery form of Cy, ISU’s mascot.
“Come by here every day and check it out…definitely interesting to see the process,” says ISU student Quinton Norman.
Butter cow artist Sarah Pratt, who is an ISU alum, has been working this week on the sculpture. She’s using 300 pounds of butter to create the lovable big bird.
Students have been stopping by Kildee Hall to see Pratt at work.
Butter Cy will be on display until Saturday’s ISU Homecoming game.
Afterwards, the butter will be donated for next summer’s butter cow at the Iowa State Fair.
