HIRING LAWSUIT: Mistrial Over Bias Claims
A federal judge in Davenport has declared a mistrial is a discrimination case involving the University of Iowa.
Teresa Wagner sued Carolyn Jones, the school’s former dean. Wagner claims the university refused to hire her due to her background as a staunch Republican.
After more than a week of testimony the jury couldn’t decide on one of the two charges.
The jury cleared the university on the charge of political bias. But the judge declared a mistrial because the jury couldn’t agree on the second count of equal protection.
Wagner’s attorney says he plans to fight for a re-trial.
