The recovery of an Iowa sailor who lost part of each of his limbs in an explosion in Afghanistan is continuing and his journey is being documented along the way.

Petty Officer Taylor Morris, of Cedar Falls, was injured on May 3rd and faces a long recovery. Though his injuries are serious, he’s not letting them get in the way of doing the things he loves.

Morris is recovering at Walter Reed Medical Center with the help of his longtime girlfriend Danielle Kelly, who has been there for him every step of the way. Their love story has been highlighted through a Buzzfeed post A Love Story In 22 Pictures and on the Today Show.

Now friends and supporters have put together a video about Taylor’s journey.

Taylor has been fitted with prosthetics that allow him to walk and even a motorized hand that he is able to control. During his rehabilitation, Morris has been able to kayak using a Bellyak and he is learning to drive again using adaptive devices.

Taylor and Danielle were in Iowa on October 20th for the Unstoppable Event, which was a fundraiser for Taylor. More than 500 people showed up to help and support Taylor.

Danielle updates a blog regularly on Taylor’s progress, you can follow along here.

Morris has been awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star for his service and sacrifice.
