BALLOT READY: Preparing To Vote

If you haven’t already registered to vote, the deadline to pre-register has passed, but you can still register on Election Day.

You’ll just need to bring identification.

“There’s a lot of different forms of identification that are acceptable under the law.  So if you have your drivers license that’ll be great.  In terms of proving your address, if you bring your utility bill or something along those lines you’ll be able to vote,” says Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz.

If you are unable to provide those items, you can bring an attester. That person must be a registered voter in your precinct.

You can request an absentee ballot up until Friday, but it must be postmarked by November 5th.

If you’ve requested an absentee ballot but you haven’t received it, you can still vote in person on Election Day.  You’ll just have to let the poll worker know you requested an absentee ballot and they will give you a provisional ballot.

Or, you can still vote early at your county’s auditor office or at a satellite location until Monday.

You can find your polling place here.
