ADOPTION MONTH: Events Honor Iowa Children

A candlelight vigil Thursday night honors Iowa children waiting to be adopted from foster care.

Iowa KidsNet is holding the ceremony at 6:30 p.m. at Tri-B farms on Northwest 16th Street in Ankeny.

It’s just one of dozens of events planned around the state throughout November.

Leaders will talk about the on-going needs of children in Iowa’s foster care system and finding permanent connections. There’s a particular need for foster and adoptive parents for teens, children with special needs and sibling groups.

As of August, about 765 Iowa children were eligible for adoption from foster care.

November is National Adoption Month.
