DISNEY DISASTER: Family Stuck On Cruise During Sandy
An Iowa family was aboard a cruise ship when it got caught in Hurricane Sandy.
Candy Bradley and her Cascade, Iowa family asked Disney Cruise Lines for a refund days before the ship set sail.
They were denied, and told the ship would steer clear of the storm. But the family says just the opposite happened, and the Disney Dream quickly turned into a nightmare.
Hours after leaving from Port Canaveral, Florida, the ship was in winds exceeding 80-miles per hour. The Bradleys were trapped on a ship in turbulent waters for several days.
A second ship, the Disney Fantasy, was also out at sea nearby. The conditions sent items flying off shelves, rattled cabins and forced the crew to close outdoor amenities.
The Cruise Line says its captains are highly trained to navigate in inclement weather. The company admits, however that conditions were much worse than anticipated.
