The City of Ames is encouraging the public to attend a forum on hunger awareness and action.

The “One Voice, One Community” forum is being held from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, November 12th at Commons Hall, Bethesda Lutheran Church, 1517 Northwestern Ave.

The event is being put on by the Story County Housing Board and is sponsored by the City of Ames Housing Division.

This year’s forum will spotlight the theme “Fighting Hidden Hunger A Year Later” and “Lessons Learned … Homelessness Solutions” in Story County.  The keynote speaker will be Tony Timm, executive director with the Central Iowa Shelter and Services of Des Moines.

“Homelessness and hunger may not be easily visible in Ames, but these issues do exist in our city,” said City of Ames Housing Coordinator Vanessa Baker-Latimer. “When we support agencies that address these issues, we strengthen our entire community.”
