MISSING TEEN: Police Involved Shooting

DCI is investigating a police-involved shooting in Hardin County. 

Just after 2:35 Friday afternoon, the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting at 22626 I Ave in rural Hubbard. 

Whole officials were attempting to apprehend the alleged shooter, Sheriff Timothy Smith confronted a 17-year-old.  Police say the 17-year-old allegedly raised a weapon toward Sheriff Smith and refused to drop the weapon. 

Sheriff Smith shot the 17-year-old who was immediately air-lifted to Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. 

His condition is unknown. 

DCI was called in to investigate the incident. 

According to the Des Moines Register, the teen was reported missing to the Marshalltown Police Department on Christmas Day of 2011 and is listed as a missing person by the Department of Public Safety.
