FEDERAL CHARGES: Newton Doctor In Court

 A former Newton Physician is facing federal charges for allegedly over-prescribing painkillers to a patient who died of an overdose.

Dr. Lafayette Twyner appeared in court Monday to answer to the 114 charges against him. The indictment accuses Twyner of knowingly prescribing painkillers to addicts.

Twyner surrendered his medical license in January.
