SLOWING DOWN: Altoona Speed Limit Change Request

The City of Altoona will soon be slowing down. 

The Polk County Public Works Department received a request recently from the City of Altoona to change the speed limit on NE 80 Street (14^th Ave. SE) due to development along the roadway. 

A portion of the roadway is joint jurisdictional between the City of Altoona and Polk County, therefore requires both agencies to approve the request. 

The request is for NE 80^th street from ½ mile North of NE 38^th Ave and South City Limits ¼ mile North of NE 38^th Ave. 

The current speed is 45 mph, the request is to lower the speed limit to 35 mph.
