Sunday is Veterans Day and there are plenty of opportunities to honor those men and women who have sacrificed for our country.
The biggest ceremony may be on Sunday. It’s the Veterans Day program at Veterans Memorial auditorium in downtown Des Moines
It starts at 11:00 a.m. and the program is free and open to the public.
Also on Sunday, is a remembrance ceremony at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter. That begins at 8:00 a.m.
At AIB, there’s the Veterans History Project. Veterans will tell their stories that will be recorded and transcribed. The vets will get a DVD copy and it will also be sent to the Gold Star Museum in Johnston and the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
