BIKER DIES: Friends Honor Motorcyclist
Dozens of bikers gathered Monday night to say goodbye to one of their own.
Thirty-eight-yea- old Brad Clikeman, B-Easy to his friends with the Rough Riders Motorcycle Club, was critically hurt when his bike slammed into an SUV Saturday afternoon on the corner of Merle Hay Road and Meredith Drive in Des Moines.
Witnesses say the driver of the SUV pulled out in front of Clikeman. His friend, Patrick Kerr, was riding along side him at the time of the accident. “I knew as soon as he slid the front tire it was bad,” Kerr remembers, “Just his whole body and the bike was going to the right. It was in slow motion. Just playing it over and over and over in my head.”
Friends remembered Clikeman as a good father and friend. A proud veteran. And an experienced and passionate biker who died doing what he loved best.
“Just had the biggest heart in the world,” says Breon Daye. “I’m one of his closest friends and for this man to go..he went out loving this and that’s riding.”
“He was my best friend,” Kerr added, “Every day he was like man lets just ride. Lets do this. Lets do that. Lets go get lost. That was his biggest thing. Just wanted to be on two wheels.”
Police say Clikeman was wearing a helmet and alcohol was not a factor in the crash. Charges could be filed by the end of the week.
