DRUG DEATHS: Trial Set For April

A Des Moines pain doctor charged with 10 counts of involuntary manslaughter won’t be tried until next year.

Dr. Daniel Baldi was originally scheduled to stand trial December 5^th, but a judge has delayed the trial until April 1st.

A hearing will also be held later this month to determine if the defense can access Pharmacy Board records of some of Baldi’s former patients.

Prosecutors claim Baldi prescribed narcotics in large doses to known addicts, resulting in their deaths. One of the cases involves the death of Slipknot bassist Paul Gray.

If convicted, Baldi faces 20 years in prison.
