HEARING CANCELLED: Missing Girl’s Mom Avoids Court

A parole revocation hearing for the mother of one of two missing Evansdale girls was cancelled Wednesday.

Misty Morrissey was supposed to appear in federal court in Cedar Rapids.

The parole revocation stems from a 2003 methamphetamine case. According to court documents, Morrissey’s attorney filed a motion to dismiss the government’s attempts to put her back behind bars.

But the motion document is sealed.

Morrissey is the mother of Lyric Cook. Lyric and her cousin Elizabeth Collins disappeared four months ago. Authorities believe the girls were abducted.
