AGRIBUSINESS: Googling The Wind

You can’t exactly Google the wind, but in Greene County, Iowa, you can get pretty close.

On November 15, the tech giant announced a $75 million deal that gives them a stake in the Rippey Wind Farm northwest of Des Moines – 130 miles northeast of Council Bluffs, which is home to one of the eight data centers that powers Google’s search and other services.

So far Google has committed $990 million in real dollars to renewable energy projects, due mainly to the massive volume of electricity needed to run its business.
