Former Des Moines Police Officer Brandon Singleton is back behind bars at the Polk County jail.

The department of corrections was searching for Singleton after he allegedly removed his tracking device over the weekend.

Singleton was required to wear the device as part of his sentence for illegal weapons possession. That sentence stems from an August incident where police found a gun on him during a traffic stop.

Earlier this year he was kicked off the force after he crashed his squad car while he was on the clock, and a search of the car turned up meth and marijuana. He was also sentenced to probation in that case.
