Des Moines leaders will cut the ribbon on the city’s new fire station Tuesday.

The $10.6 million building will house administration, maintenance, and training, it will serve as the new central operating facility for the department.

The 54,000 square foot building sits at 2715 Dean Avenue, just west of the fairgrounds.

After the ceremony the public is invited to an open house. During the open house there will be fire prevention demonstrations with the department’s newest equipment on display.
