A Des Moines man is in the Polk County Jail after ramming his car into two police cars while trying to get away Tuesday.

Police say narcotics officers were following 28-year-old Albert Lee Logan in connection with a case and called for patrol to help in pulling him over. Logan stopped his vehicle at the intersection of Cornell and Aurora, with the narcotics officers behind him.

The patrol vehicle blocked him in from the front and Logan tried to get away by backing into the narcotics officers’ vehicle, then he drove forward and hit the patrol vehicle. The patrol vehicle then pushed Logan’s car to the side.

Logan was taken into custody at gunpoint. He is charged with possession of narcotics, possession of a weapon as a felon, failure to have a valid license, interference with official acts, two counts of assault while participating in a felony, and theft.

Logan’s bond is set at more than $17,000.
