Central Iowans chipped in Wednesday to make sure the less fortunate have something to be thankful about this Thanksgiving.
Hope Ministries' Bethel Mission held a six-hour food drive Wednesday and collected items to create a big holiday meal.
Thursday, Hope Ministries will serve up to 300 meals onsite. Volunteers will also deliver more than 2,000 meals to the elderly, shut-ins and low income families.
“I just love meeting people because they're in the giving spirit. And you know what, I’ve met already this morning people that have just this joy, this joy of giving and l love experiencing that and Thanksgiving is a time when we can sit back and think what blessings do I have and how can I bless others,” David Burrier with Hope Ministries says.
Hope Ministries holds a big food donation drop-off the day before Christmas as well.
