A group of Central Iowa women has found a way to roll the spirit of Thanksgiving, Veterans Day and Christmas into one gesture.

The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 50-60 in Madrid decided to go all out for this year’s town Christmas tree contest.

They’re giving thanks to all 92 Iowa soldiers killed in the line of duty since September 11th.

The fallen are featured on what the women are calling ‘The Memorial Tree’ and in a special book that goes with it. The VFW will display the tree until December 3rd and then sell it to the highest bidder.
