Ben Jacobson’s Panthers have proved they can play with anyone. What UNI hasn’t proven, is that it can beat them. A couple of nights after taking #2 Louisville to the brink, in the Bahamas, UNI took a 26-12 lead on #19 Memphis — and blew it. The Panthers finish the trip 0-3, with losses to Louisville, Stanford, and Memphis. If the Panthers can figure out how to put it all together, they could win The Valley this season.
Iowa State plays #18 UNLV, tonight, in Vegas. The game isn’t on TV. It’s bad enough that several games have been on cyclones.tv. This game isn’t available anywhere. It’s almost 2013, folks. This is ridiculous.
Ohio State finished 12-0. Iowa finished 4-8. Both will be playing in the same bowl game. None. Pipe down Buckeye fans. Be thankful you only received a one-year sentence.
Kirk Ferentz says he thinks playing a young qb in garbage time to get him some reps is overrated. In my opinion, if Jake Ruddock ever plays a significant minute for the Hawks, Ferentz should take a lot of heat. If Ruddock never plays, then I can understand why he never let the redshirt freshman play. Time will tell.
Iowa State needs to win its bowl game or Paul Rhoads will finish with a losing record for the third time in four years. Cyclone Insider, Chris Williams, believes Iowa State is heading to Texas. Chris believes there are two possibilities in the Lonestar state: The Meineke Car Care Bowl in Houston, or the Heart of Dallas Bowl at Cowboys Stadium. The Pinstripe Bowl could be a possibility, but Chris thinks it would be highly unlikely for ISU to land in NYC for the second straight year.
I had a great couple of days in my hometown of Muscatine, over Thanksgiving. I can’t get enough of my new niece, Astoria. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to have a kid of my own because I’m not sure anyone could be as cute as she is. My wife was supposed to come back tonight, but she called to say she wasn’t ready to leave her niece just yet. Hopefully she will return on Sunday. I like being my own boss around the house, but I need structure. Just ask Keith.
