Iowa ranks number five in 24/7 Wall St. magazine’s annual report on best and worst run states in America.
Researchers say like many of the other well run states, Iowa is one of the nation’s top agricultural centers with farming contributing to the state’s growth.
Farm earnings and land values went up in the state last year.
Iowa’s unemployment rate is the sixth lowest in the nation and Iowans carry among the lowest amount of debt in the nation.
In fact, Iowa currently has the best possible credit ratings from Moody’s and S&P.
California is the publication’s worst run state for the second year in a row, mostly due to high levels of debt.
