LOTTO CRAZE: Jackpot Grows To $550 Million
The record Powerball jackpot for Wednesday night’s drawing keeps rising as ticket sales across the country balloon.
The Iowa Lottery says the jackpot is now worth $550 million and that’s a conservative estimate because ticket sales throughout the day will likely push the jackpot even higher. If the winner chooses the cash option, it is $360.2 million.
The jackpot has grown $223 million since Wednesday’s drawing. The Powerball jackpot was last won on October 3rd.
Lottery officials say it’s estimated that 75-percent of all possible number combinations will be bought for the drawing Wednesday night.
Tickets for the drawing can be bought up until 8:59 p.m. Wednesday.
Powerball is sold in 42 states across the U.S. and in the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
