Des Moines Public Schools will soon have another voice in the legislature.

At their Tuesday meeting the board voted to approve the hiring of an additional lobbyist for one year.

The Des Moines Register says Larson Shannahan Slifka Group (LS2 Group) was hired, their registered lobbyist include Chuck Larson, Joe Shannahan, Andrea Jensa and Susan Fenton.

The new representative is expected to ask lawmakers for more waivers to allow for greater flexibility in the classroom.

Officials say the new lobbyist will cost $30,000 which will come from the District’s general fund.
