PLANE CRASH: One Killed Near Clutier

One person was killed in a plane crash in eastern Iowa Wednesday morning.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. near Clutier in Tama County. Tama County sheriff Dennis Kucera says two people were inside the small Taylorcraft plane when it went down.

The plane burst into flames on impact and the passenger suffered burns on most of their body trying to get the pilot out of the plane. The passenger was able to escape but the pilot died.

Sheriff Kucera says he will not release the names of those involved in the plane crash because the family has requested him not to.

According to FAA records, the registered owner of the plane is William Konicek of Traer.

The FAA is investigating the crash.
