An Urbandale Police Officer has been honored with the Case of the Year Award from the Heart of America Police Dog Association.

In October of 2011, Officer Shane Taylor and his K-9 partner Sabre were called to a Dallas County weigh station.

During a search of a truck and trailer Sabre located $180,000 hidden in a secret compartment.

That discovery led to a traffic stop two weeks later that turned up 250lbs. of marijuana.

Federal investigators got involved and were able to bring down a $1.1 million dollar nationwide drug operation.
