The Salvation Army is celebrating a special gift, placed in one of its red kettles.

The non-profit says someone put a one-ounce silver bar in the kettle at the Ankeny Walmart Wednesday.

Volunteers found the bar while counting up donations Thursday.

Officials say the bar is worth around $35.

The donation is the first precious metal put in a metro area kettle this season.
