Gov. Terry Branstad is calling for flags to fly at half-staff over the weekend to honor a fallen soldier.
Sergeant Joseph Richardson, an Algona native, died on November 16th while serving in the U.S. Army in Afghanistan.
Authorities say his unit came under attack during patrols.
Richardson’s visitation is Friday night in Algona. His funeral is at 10:30 Saturday morning.
Flags should fly at half-staff Friday evening to Monday morning.
