Backers of Iowa wind energy are pushing congress to renew the production tax credit. If no action is taken in Washington D.C. before the end of the year, the credit will expire.

Experts say if the tax credit is not renewed several proposed wind farms won’t be built.

On Wednesday members of Environment Iowa asked congress to get to work on the legislation.

The group also says wind energy does more than just reduce pollution. Iowa is the second in the nation for producing wind energy. About 20 percent of Iowa’s electricity is produced by wind.
