As 40 families say good bye to loved ones being deployed, one family is trying to get back to normal now that their soldier is home again.
Iowa Marine Reservist Chuck Larson has finished his duty overseas and will return to his other job, practicing law at Scheldrup Blades in Des Moines.
Larson finds there are many similarities between fighting on behalf of his country and fighting on behalf of clients. “Lawyers solve problems and manage personalities and competing interests. Commanders do likewise. Both operate under intense stress and are held personally responsible for their actions.”
Larson served in the selected Marine Corps Reserve and returned from Afghanistan in October. He headed a security detail that lead and protected convoys distributing supplies.
This was his third tour in 11 years.
