FILM LAWSUIT: Filmmaker Says State Owes Him

A filmmaker says the state of Iowa didn’t live up to its promise to pay him millions in tax credits.

Anthony Gudas, of Rhode Island, is suing the state for more than $4.5 million. Gudas says he borrowed money to finance four films before the state suddenly ended its film tax credit program in 2009.

Gudas says his business was ruined because the state failed to pay.

The Iowa Attorney General’s Office has not commented on the lawsuit.
