Investigators have ruled the fire in the heart of an eastern Iowa town an accident.
Dozens of firefighters responded to calls of a fire in downtown Monticello in the early morning hours of November 28.
Despite concerns that the fire would spread to nearby buildings; crews were able to contain the fire to just two buildings. Investigators say the fire started in a carpet store and spread to a nearby salon.
They know the fire was an accident, but the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
No one was injured, several buildings nearby suffered smoke and water damage.
