FIELD TRIP: Students Teach Healthcare Workers

Usually students take field trips to learn from others, but that wasn’t the case for a class from the Walnut Street School on Thursday.

The class of 26 students visited the Wellmark Headquarters in Des Moines to share their health knowledge. The students displayed various projects on health related topics and explained what they had learned during their research.

The kids say they spent a long time studying topics like food poison, smoking and melanoma.

Luke Gorski decided to study infant jaundice because his sister had it, he even explained how it works to Channel 13, watch him in the video above.

The Wellmark Medical Director and his wife, who is a pharmacist, visited the school in November to help the kids with their projects.
