SCHOOL FUNDING: Fort Dodge Falls Short

The Fort Dodge school district is facing a big shortfall in funding next year after a vote on a tax levy failed last night.

Voters were asked to renew the current property tax levy and approve a new levy.

But voters shot them down. That means the district’s funds for transportation and school improvements will be nearly $600,000 short.

District leaders hope to get the measure onto another special election ballot soon and will be working to try to persuade voters.
