SCHOOL FUNDING: Governor Calls For Change

Before the next legislative session starts, Governor Branstad has his staff working on a proposal change funding for Iowa School Districts.  

Branstad wants to get rid of the allowable growth practice that currently allows districts to increase their budgets from year to year.

He says this leads to automatic property tax increases. Instead, he suggests school budgets be tied to the rate of inflation.
