MURPHY’S LAW: Big Win, Big 4 Challenge, Big Blowout
By Chris Hassel
What a great win for the Hawkeye basketball program. It had been four years since Iowa had beaten ISU on the hardwood. Iowa outplayed ISU for 35 of 40 minutes. Fred Hoiberg was right in saying that he was surprised the Cyclones only lost by 9. It should’ve been a lot more.
Did Will Clyburn forget to make the trip to Iowa City? ISU’s leading scorer was held scoreless.
Aaron White is one of the best players in the Big Ten, and he’s only a sophomore. I was laughed at when (last season) I said White would be an NBA player. Part of me worries White may leave after his junior season.
I’m excited for the Big 4 Challenge at Wells Fargo Arena, next weekend. But I still wish Iowa and ISU played both Drake and UNI. I was with a UNI alum who was planning on buying a pair of tickets to the Iowa-UNI game. He ended up canceling his order because they tried charging him a $6 convenience fee, per ticket. Buying tix online these days is like taking your car to a repair shop. You just never know what exactly you’re being charged for.
The Urbandale girls beat Des Moines North, 41-16, Saturday. The score after three quarters was 26-0.
