BIG FOUR: Hawks Surprise Freshman, UNI Winning Record

Posted on: 10:56 pm, December 10, 2012, by

It’s finals week for Iowa, ISU, Drake, and UNI, but when the school work is finished the games of the Big Four Classic begin.

Northern Iowa is coming off a big victory at George Mason, over the weekend snapping the Patriots’ 14-game home-court winning-streak.

The Panthers may be the most battle-tested team heading into their game with Iowa on Saturday, UNI is 6-0 on U.S. soil this year; their only three losses came in the Bahamas.

Northern Iowa blew out the Hawkeyes in Cedar Falls, last season, but when the Panthers meet the Hawks in Des Moines, this year, they’ll see a much different starting five.

Iowa will start 3 freshmen, including Anthony Clemmons, the biggest and best surprise of the season for the Hawkeyes, so far.

The point guard from Lansing, Michigan wasn’t a top recruit like Adam Woodbury or Mike Gessell, but he’s turning into one of the best players on Iowa’s roster.

Iowa and UNI play the first game on Saturday at the Wells Fargo Arena, Iowa State and Drake play after.
