Iowa State fans are snatching up Liberty Bowl tickets like hot-cakes.
ISU was originally allotted 10,000 tickets, which went on sale last week. After those were bought up in a matter of days, ISU Athletics Director Jamie Pollard asked for 2,500 more, and those sold too.
That’s already over 4,000 more than the Cyclones sold for the 2009 Insight Bowl in Arizona.
In comparison, Michigan State, who will play in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl (formerly the Insight Bowl), has sold just 2,000 of its 11,000 allotted.
Cyclones fans are clearly pumped to spend New Year’s Eve in Memphis, but you may get the sense that some players and coaches aren’t that thrilled about an Iowa-Tulsa rematch.
Not Bill Blankenship, Tulsa’s head coach seems genuinely excited. A lot of that is likely due to the fact that Tulsa lost the season opener at Jack Trice Stadium.
Tulsa already accomplished what it set out to do by winning the Conference USA Championship, now Blankenship wants to see just how far his team has come the last four months.
