A man who crashed his car early Monday morning is in the Polk County Jail charged with operating while intoxicated.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office says it was called several times about an erratic driver in the northbound lanes of Northwest Second Avenue. Callers said the driver was swerving and driving on the shoulder.

The car crashed before deputies could catch up to the car. Witnesses say the driver turned hard to the left, rolled the car onto its side, crossed the southbound lane and ended up in the ditch.

The driver, 21-year old Brenden Selfridge, was helped out of the vehicle. He was not injured.

Deputies took him to the Polk County Jail. He is charged with OWI and failure to maintain control.
