DAUTOVIC TRIAL: Former Officer In Court
A former Des Moines police officer will be sentenced in federal court, Thursday.
Earlier this year, Mersed Dautovic was convicted in federal court of a criminal civil rights violation and obstruction of justice.
According to reports, Dautovic used excessive force during a traffic stop in 2008, then lied during the investigation into his actions. He faces up to 30 years in prison.
Dautovic also faces state charges of willful injury, felony misconduct and perjury.
He is expected to enter a plea to those charges on Friday.
Former fellow Officer John Mailander was also charged in the case. He’s already pled guilty to both state and federal charges and is awaiting sentencing.
