FATHER SENTENCED: Life In Prison For Infant Death
An Ankeny father is going to prison for life to pay for the death of his infant daughter. Twenty-Two-year-old Ryan Trowbridge was sentenced Tuesday morning in Polk County Court.
He was convicted of first degree murder in the 2010 death of his 4-month-old daughter, Rylee.
Trowbridge claimed her death was an accident, but the medical examiner disagreed, ruling Rylee died from head injuries.
During Tuesday’s sentencing a victim’s advocate read a letter from the family.
“It is not our wish that you spend the rest of your life in prison. It never has been. I know you loved your daughter. That was never a question. We just need to know the truth so that someday we might be able to heal.”
Trowbridge’s defense asked for a new trial, but the motion was denied. His attorney says they plan to file an appeal.
