The Iowa State football team is heading to the Liberty Bowl, but there’s another Cyclone team heading to Memphis too, and we can’t forget about them.

The Iowa State Marching band has been putting in extra practice in the cold weather and at basketball and volleyball games. All 350 members will load up their instruments and make the trek to the Liberty Bowl.

Traveling with a group that large isn’t easy, but the students say it's worth the extra time and energy.

“This bowl game is everything to us. For the next two weeks we’ll be out here rehearsing in the cold and dark. We love what we do, we love to support the cyclones,” said band member Wade Gibson.

Director of Bands, Steven Smyth says the band is a great compliment to the cyclone fan base because they add a slice of energy and excitement.

The band and the football team will have a lot of fans in Memphis.

Iowa State has already sold nearly 13,000 tickets. The game kicks at 2:30 central time on New Year's Eve.
