An Iowan was in the running to win this season’s Survivor: Philippines.

41 year old, Denise Staley is a sex therapist from Cedar Rapids. She was up against veteran Michael Skupin and former Facts of Life star, Lisa Whelchel.

Up for grabs was a $1-million prize…

On Sunday night’s show, Denise came out on top with 8 castaways voting in her favor.

 She called the million dollar prize,” life changing” because, “in Iowa, you can do a lot with this.”
