The Polk County Board of Supervisor said good-bye to a long-time member at their Tuesday meeting.

Republican E.J. Giovanetti is leaving the board after ten years.

At the close of the meeting he thanked his fellow supervisors and staff.

He left with this message to future supervisors and anyone else who pursues public office, “Recall from time to time the promises you made during your campaign.  Not sure what I’ll do, but I’ll be around.  Have a great holiday and god bless.”

Giovanetti won’t disappear from public life; he will continue to serve on the Prairie Meadows Board.

Previously, he served as Mayor of Urbandale for 20 years.

Giovanetti will be replaced on the board of supervisors by former Ankeny Mayor Steve Van Oort.
