An Iowa company that provides mental and home health care services to more than a thousand Iowans is under investigation for Medicaid fraud.

Optimae Life Services is accused of “un-bundling charges in order to obtain greater compensation.”

In other words, Optimae allegedly used multiple billing codes rather than one, in order to get more money from the government.

The Department of Human Services has suspended a portion of Optimae’s Medicaid payments.

Optimae provides services in 13 central and eastern Iowa counties and has received more than $25 million in Medicaid reimbursements this year alone.

A phone call to Optimae’s president was not returned.
